We’re always on the lookout for innovative online shopping tools. Here are a few of our favorites. We hope they will help you find the clothing items and accessories that are perfect for you!

1. Etsy color search lets you pick a color and preview small examples before digging deeper. Just drag your mouse across the color palette and click!

2. Etsy’s newest color search has you picking from a rainbow bar and shows you a variety of images in grid form. Click on a color button for more items with that color. [UPDATE: This page no longer exists]

3. TinEye Reverse Image Search is super cool! Upload the image of a garment that you really like or enter the image URL and TinEye will find images just like it ALL over the web. They also have Firefox, Chrome, and Safari plug-ins that allow you to right click on any image while you browse to begin the reverse image search. This tool and others powered by Idée, Inc. promise to get more and more powerful with time. Watch out Google!

4. Google lets you filter your image search by one or two colors from a limited palette of twelve basic colors: red, green, blue, white, black, yellow, pink, brown, purple, gray, teal, and orange. You can also limit these searches by domain name, e.g. site:http://nordstrom.com filtered by black and yellow. Here’s a search we did for jackets for women with the pink filter on.

5. Shoes.com has a nice page for shopping by color. They break their color scheme down by warm, cool, and neutral colors.

5. Search for “blue hat” on Boutiques.com and this is what you’ll get. Even better, refine by style, designer, store, or price. Here’s “blue hat” again filtered by “boho” (nice piece!). This site has a wonderful collection of up-to-date trends and styles. You might have to do some hunting to find that perfect item, but you will definitely get inspired. This is a great place for designers to look for new ideas!
